Agriculture

Agriculture is integral to food security and for mitigating poverty across the world. According to FAO estimates, global food production will have to increase by approximately 70 percent over the next 40 years in order to meet the staggering increase in world population. With 60 percent of the world's uncultivated arable land located in Africa, this continent provides the last horizon for increasing food production for the world.

In 2010, Neha acquired 4000 hectares in Bako, 270 km west of the capital city of Addis Ababa. The farm is located in a high rainfall region and has very fertile soils. The company invested in developing the land, building infrastructure like roads & bridges, setting up a rice mill, warehouse and seed processing units along with world class farming equipment.Under the guidance of experienced project managers, agronomists from the Bako Institute of Maize research, and scientists interested in large scale sustainable agriculture, Neha is developing a model nucleus farm in Bako, growing Maize, food grains, lentils, vegetables and oil seeds. Neha's effort is to change the trend and reduce the input intensive practices of commercial agriculture which are depleting not only the virgin soils of Africa, but our hope to feed our future generations.
